After more than 25 million copies sold of the CD ABBA Gold, this DVD version of the album features promo clips for the 19 songs included on the original CD. Although previously released as a VHS collection, the ABBA Gold DVD features the classic ABBA videos in upgraded and restored versions. In addition to legendary hits such as Mamma Mia, Dancing Queen, Knowing Me, Knowing You, Take A Chance On Me and The Winner Takes It All, the DVD features the first DVD release of the videos for Lay All Your Love On Me and I Have A Dream.

The DVD also includes two bonus selections, released for the first time on DVD. ABBA - The History is a 25 minute documentary, put together in 1999 at the time of the 25th Anniversary of ABBA's victory with Waterloo in the Eurovision Song Contest, which also coincided with the opening of the musical Mamma Mia!, based on the group's songs.
